Sensory W.I.S.E. Solutions Podcast for Parents
Trailer

Hey there everyone! I am so excited (and a little nervous because you know- hashtag, enneagram 6) that this podcast is finally happening! I’ve been planning and preparing and recording and agonizing over every detail for the past few months and I just can’t wait to send this out to the world.

Some of you may know me, but if you don’t, I’m Laura, I’m a pediatric OT, wife and of course mom to Liliana. If you follow me TheOTButterfly on instagram, you know how sassy, hilarious and extremely emotional my girl is! She’s really the reason I do what I do, everyday.

Every day I hear from parents who are just starting their sensory journey or are in the thick of it. But no matter what place they are in their journey, the same theme resonates.

They feel isolated.

Like no one gets them.

They feel unseen, unheard, even if they’re screaming at the top of their lungs that they need help.

Let me tell you, if your’e that parent- you are absolutely not alone. I’m here with you. My daughter has sensory processing disorder and some anxiety sprinkled on top, so I get the feeling of isolation when your friends or family may not totally get what you actually go through on a daily basis.

My hope for this podcast is to create more impact, more connection and empower more parents through education and insights from an OT. I won’t only share my clinical perspective, I will be sharing my raw, real vulnerable thoughts as I sit in the trenches with you. I always keep it real.

Sensory WISE Solutions is the name of my parent program and membership, but WISE actually is an acronym for the 4 pillars of my program.

W stands for understand why. Why your child has these behaviors, why they are melting down, why routines may be hard for them.

I stands for identify. Identify their sensory triggers, their sensory profiles, maybe your own sensory triggers.

S is for sensory strategies- whether or not your child has sensory challenges, everyone can benefit from some sensory strategies and having a solid sensory toolbox to support regulation.

Lastly, is E. Which stands for Engage in the just right challenge. This is really when you start to understand your child’s current level of abilities and start thinking like an OT to break down tasks in easier steps so your child can always be successful.

Every week I’ll be sharing some information that offers you something from the WISE pillars so you can walk away feeling not only informed, but empowered and and as confident as a Beyonce hair flip to get through your week and support your child using these tools.

I hope you enjoy the podcast and the first season!

Thanks for being here.
